1. Main objective of the project:
Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń is implementing the task entitled “Social Media Pedagogy with AI Components” as part of the non-competitive project “Supporting Teaching Processes through the NAVOICA Platform”, implemented under the European Funds for Social Development 2021–2027 Programme.
The aim of the project is to adapt the educational offer of higher education institutions to the needs of economic development and the green and digital transformation by developing and making available on the NAVOICA platform at least 150 MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) courses to be incorporated into first- or second-cycle degree programmes or long-cycle Master’s degree programmes.
The specific objective is to adapt the educational offer of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń to the needs of economic development and the green and digital transformation by developing and making available on the NAVOICA platform a free, open-access, 30-hour MOOC course entitled “Social Media Pedagogy with AI Components.”
Specific objectives:
- Enhancing participants’ professional competences, confirmed by a certificate, through the acquisition of knowledge and skills in the field of social media and artificial intelligence in education, with particular emphasis on challenges related to the digital and green transformation.
- Expanding knowledge of the impact of social media on young people, including the role of influencer culture, while developing the ability to critically analyse digital content. The course content will also be incorporated into the curriculum of pedagogy students at Nicolaus Copernicus University.
- Increasing awareness of the ethical use of AI in education, including the responsible creation of content, online communication, and the application of modern technologies in pedagogical practice.
- Ensuring universal access to education through a free, open-access MOOC course designed in accordance with universal design principles and available to all interested individuals, regardless of their location, time availability, or participant status.
- Supporting the concept of lifelong learning by providing opportunities for development to all individuals interested in expanding their competences in the fields of education, social media, and artificial intelligence. The project will also facilitate the exchange of experience and good practices between higher education institutions and educational institutions.
2. Two target groups will be supported:
Students enrolled in the Pedagogy programme at Nicolaus Copernicus University – a total of 60 participants in the MOOC course devoted to social media and artificial intelligence in education. Participation in the course will enable students to develop competences essential for working with children and young people in digital environments. It is assumed that the majority of participants will achieve the intended learning outcomes in terms of knowledge, skills, and social competences.
Individuals from outside the University – professionals working in pedagogical and psychological professions, as well as in educational, childcare, and support services, including those working with children and young people in various forms of education and support. This group also includes individuals involved in methodological counselling, working in psychological and pedagogical counselling centres, as well as students enrolled in pedagogy and teacher education programmes who are preparing to enter the profession.
The course will also be available to all individuals interested in the subject of social media and artificial intelligence in education.
